The Capacitor+ project establishes an energy incubator in the Ostrobothnia region, aiming to accelerate the creation of new companies, support the growth of startups, and strengthen the region’s attractiveness for energy sector actors.
The project addresses practical challenges related to the commercialisation of ideas, the creation of spin-offs, and the development of companies’ research, development and innovation (RDI) capabilities.
The main goal of the project is to strengthen the regional innovation and business ecosystem by:
- Creating a clear operating model to support the formation of spin-off companies
- Enhancing the research, development and innovation capabilities of startups
- Attracting new energy sector startups to the Ostrobothnia region
- Accelerating the transformation of ideas into viable business
Capacitor+ provides concrete tools and support for companies and innovation development:
- Establishing a regional energy incubator to support new and growing businesses
- Developing three playbooks, offering practical guidance for:
- spin-off development
- startup growth
- attracting new companies to the region
- Building a network of experts and mentors to support companies at different stages
- Providing practical tools, such as contract templates and tools for evaluating commercialisation potential
The project also develops a flexible support model, allowing companies to follow different development paths (building spin-offs, scaling startups, or entering the regional ecosystem) based on their needs.
The region continuously generates new ideas from research and industry, but turning these into business is often challenging.
Capacitor+ creates a clear and systematic model to support this process. The goal is to build a stronger and more attractive energy ecosystem that supports business growth and brings new actors to the region.
