The aim of this project is to develop the conditions for open innovation in the Vaasa region. The aim is, in particular, to develop cross-border innovation in companies by facilitating different types of interaction. The project also aims to create interaction between international energy technology clusters. Companies are beginning to look for new ways to improve the efficiency and productivity of their innovation processes. These include active search for ideas and technologies outside the company, as well as working with suppliers and competitors to create customer value. One important feature is the further development or licensing of ideas and technologies that are unsuitable for the company’s strategy. Open innovation is a way of dealing with the challenges outlined above.
