How can we make better use of grid capacity and enable more flexible energy consumption? The Finnish-Dutch Energy Webinar brings Finnish and Dutch companies and experts together to explore shared energy challenges.
As renewable electricity generation grows in Finland and the Netherlands, so does the need for energy storage, flexible consumption and smart grids. These shared challenges create opportunities for companies to learn from each other and develop solutions together.
Taking place on Thursday, 29 October, the Finnish-Dutch Energy Webinar: Building a Resilient Energy System will explore current energy challenges, practical solutions and opportunities for collaboration in both countries. The event is aimed particularly at Dutch companies and organisations interested in the Finnish energy market and potential partners.
Date and time: Thursday, 29 October 2026, 14:00–16:00 Finnish time (13:00–15:00 CET)
Location: Online
Language: English
Participation: Free of charge; registration required
Smart grids, local energy solutions and flexibility
The webinar opens with an overview of key energy challenges in Finland and the Netherlands, alongside an introduction to the energy organisations and networks in both countries. Finnish and Dutch experts will then explore three themes:
- Smart grids and power balancing: What solutions can support grid management, increase flexibility and balance electricity supply and demand?
- Energy hubs and integrated local energy systems: How can companies address limited grid capacity through local collaboration?
- Smart energy solutions for buildings and businesses: How can energy management, battery storage, demand response and electrification support the wider energy system?
Contributing organisations include Energy Innovation NL / TKI Urban Energy, EnergyVaasa / Merinova, TRC Intelligent Grid Solutions and Delft University of Technology. Individual speakers will be confirmed at a later date.
Exploring new partnerships
Participants will gain insight into developments and market opportunities in Finland’s energy sector and hear practical experiences from organisations in both countries. Discussions will explore how Finnish and Dutch expertise can complement each other and create opportunities for joint projects.
The webinar will also introduce plans for a possible Dutch delegation visit to EnergyWeek in Vaasa, taking place on 15–18 March 2027. The visit would offer an opportunity to continue discussions and meet potential partners in person.
Register to take part
The webinar is particularly relevant to companies and organisations working with smart grids, energy storage, demand response, local energy systems, energy management and electrification.
Please register by Wednesday, 28 October 2026.
The webinar is organised by EnergyVaasa, the Embassy of the Netherlands in Finland, Oost NL, ROM Utrecht Region and the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), in cooperation with Kennisregio Zwolle and Connectr.
